Arqiva welcomed MP Mark Eastwood to the Emley Moor mast in March 2023.
Arqiva recently welcomed MP Mark Eastwood to the Emley Moor Mast.
A report from the visit can be viewed on the MPs website here: https://www.markeastwood.org.uk/news/mark-visits-emley-moor-mast
A lot of people know (thanks to my maiden speech in Parliament!) that it's the tallest freestanding structure in the UK, and that it's taller than Blackpool Tower, the Eiffel Tower and even The Shard, and they probably also know that it's responsible for transmitting TV and radio broadcasts to most of Yorkshire, but did you know that it's also responsible for emergency services radio signals and smart metering for power and water?
Sadly due to maintenance I wasn't able to go right to the top, but I have been promised a trip up the 8 minute long lift on a return visit...
My thanks to the Arqiva team for a very informative tour behind the scenes
Mark Eastwood, MP for Dewsbury
