Arqiva's smart water metering network supports the largest rollouts in the UK
28 February 2024, UK, Winchester, Hampshire: Leading UK communications infrastructure and media services company, Arqiva, has become the newest member of British Water, the trade association for water and wastewater supply chain organisations together with wider stakeholders across the sector.
Arqiva has been a key provider to the utilities industry for more than a decade. With a total of almost 2 million smart meters connected to our network, we operate the only smart water metering solution working at scale in the UK today.
Arqiva joining British Water demonstrates further our commitment to the industry and the promotion of standards, learning and technical development.
We’re joining British Water at an important time for the industry. The scrutiny it faces, and the number of key decisions to be made by companies and the regulator in the next couple of years is unprecedented. The impact of short-term decisions can ripple through the ages and limit options further down the line.
This is particularly true in the metering and monitoring space and, through our work with Thames and Anglian on their smart water meter rollouts over the past decade, we’ve gained excellent insights into the demands of UK water industry. As British Water members, we’re looking forward to sharing some of those insights and contributing to the excellent forums, events and debates that take place to drive the industry forward.
Mike Smith, Executive Director, Smart Utilities Networks at Arqiva
