AMP8 award follows successful large-scale rollout to date

03 October, 2024 - Winchester, UK - A month after we announced that our smart water meter networks across the country had reached the milestone of 2 million meters, we’ve received the news that Anglian Water Services have selected Arqiva to complete their rollout as part of their next Asset Management Period (AMP8).

Signature for web.jpgThe contract, awarded alongside Kier and Clancy who will provide installation services, extends Anglian and Arqiva’s relationship into a second decade. The new agreements provide partnership arrangements for a further five years to complete Anglian Water’s smart meter roll out by 2030.

On the award of the contract, Mike Smith, Executive Director of Smart Utilities Networks at Arqiva said:

“The role of truly smart water meters – ones that consistently provide accurate data to water companies – in addressing water scarcity in this country is unquestionable. Through our work with Anglian, and others, we’ve shown the power of that data in influencing consumer behaviour and helping to identify leaks across the network.

“Anglian have seen first-hand over the past few years that our solution delivers the unmatched levels of meter read regularity and accuracy that drive those outcomes.

“Alongside our partners, including Sensus and water companies’ installation partners, we’ve delivered by far the UK’s largest smart water meter rollouts and completing Anglian’s network over the next five years will open up further opportunities for them to measure and understand their most valuable resource.”

Pete Holland, Director of Customer & Wholesale Services, Anglian Water Services commented:

“We’re proud to have an industry leading smart meter programme and hit the massive achievement of fitting our millionth smart meter. Our programme put people in touch with how much water they’re using down to daily or even hourly level, which helps them take control of their household bills and find leaks that are costing them money. It’s just one of the ways we’re looking after the environment while protecting water for future generations.”
